Innovation

knowledge management ♦ creativity ♦ new ways of working ♦ process improvement

Take our innovation survey here

A culture of innovation energises staff and stakeholders to apply information, imagination and initiative to solve old challenges in new ways.

At =mc we specialise in helping organisations create the culture, processes and knowledge management systems needed for innovation to flourish, and for them to become learning organisations.

How we help

We can help:

  • design programmes to nurture innovation at an individual, team and organisational level
  • help develop a creative culture where everyone feels able to think and act in new ways
  • share techniques to ensure new ideas are thoroughly tested before being rolled out
  • develop knowledge management systems to establish and capture core knowledge and organisational wisdom
  • support Innovation Units or Innovation Managers in techniques to develop and assess ideas or projects
  • generate imaginative ways to clarify and codify organisational knowledge

The =mc approach

Over the last five years we have developed a series of unique models and tools that help not-for-profit organisations drive successful innovation. These models include a mix of mainstream and radical strategies from Innovation Radar to the Sacred Cow Bar B Que.

The unique =mc Innovation Value Chain allows our customers to benchmark their own innovation processes against a dataset of other national or international organisations.

Our innovation customers

We have used our innovation expertise to help a wide-range of organisations:

  • internationally we have helped WaterAid develop new sanitation approaches in Africa and Greenpeace International use digital technologies for campaigning
  • for the UK Government’s Cabinet Office we’ve trained senior staff in innovation techniques bringing new thinking to major social and economic issues
  • at the RNIB we’ve helped develop a comprehensive innovation programme to come up with new fundraising approaches
  • over 18 months we worked with a small unit in Geneva to create a global intranet site capturing best innovation practice across the 195 countries UNICEF works in
  • storytelling and games provided the inspiration for knowledge and project management techniques for Médecins sans Frontières

NSPCC sees itself as innovative - but that means we have to constantly re-invent our cause and our work to make sure we meet the needs and interests of children. =mc has been a great challenger in ensuring we stay on the innovative edge.
